Radiologic Technology-A Wakeup Call!
This course is intended to provide X-ray personnel with current information concerning professional responsibilities. New attitudes about dose, especially in CT, will be addressed stemming from the BEIR VII report.
On the Saturday presentations, eight category A credits may be obtained in the presentation, which includes a discussion of radiation safety, professional obligations including patient advocacy, discussion of Elder & Child abuse, film critique, and a legal exposure discoure for radiographers. On the Sunday presentations, four category A credits may be obtained in the presentation, which includes a presentation of the evolution of the use of ionizing and particulate radiation in treatment, and a presentation of the science and technology leading to the use of CT and Ultrasound. Radiologic Technology--Practical Practice! This course is intended to reawaken the technologist as to what their their ethical and practical responsibilities are to the patient, physician and their profession. On the Saturday presentations, eight category A credits may be obtained in the presentation, which includes an overview of current trends in radiation usage, a refresher concerning radiation safety, digital vs. film imaging, and a demonstration of the problems inherent in film reading imposed by our limited visual system. On the Sunday presentations, four category A credits may be obtained in the course which includes a presentation of the history, science and application of radiation safety.
